PeaceNovato to Host Sandy Hook Memorial Vigil Saturday

On Saturday December 14, the one year anniversary of the tragic shooting in Newtown Connecticut, PeaceNovato will hold a Candlelight Memorial for the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy.

Nothing will ever bring back the 26 children and educators who were murdered that day. But with 26 more school shootings in this country in the past year, we need more than a moment of silence.

Come stand up with PeaceNovato and show your conviction that we need to do something to end the gun violence that plagues our country. Nothing special is planned for this event: no speeches; no marches; no politics as usual; just a chance for people to stand together, in front of the seat of our local government, while sharing their grief, thoughts and prayers. Some may choose to hold a candle, others may hold a sign, some may pray, and others may just want to stand quietly. Together, we all will remember the lives of 20 young students and 6 courageous school leaders who died at the hands of a lone stranger with a gun.

The people of Newtown Connecticut have joined together at http://www2.sandyhookpromise.org/ and challenged us to change in our attitudes toward gun violence with the call: "This time there will be change." Let the people of our community lend our voices to the call with: "This time there must be change!"

PeaceNovato will have a limited number of free gun locks along with information on gun safety and gun violence available at this event.
