Carry a Peace Crane on July 4th

Since 2005 Peace Cranes have been a fixure in the Novato 4th of July Parade.  Evey year, as the number of memorial cranes (each carries the name, rank and hometown of a fallen American Service Person from the Iraq and Afghan Wars) grows, so does the need for more marchers to carry them.  Every year, but one, we have been able to fly all of the Cranes, leaving no soldier behind.

For those of you who have marched with us before - and there is a solid core that returns every year - thank you for your commitment to our vision: namely that the spirit of the Peace Cranes sends an energy far beyond the Grant Avenue parade route.

For those of you who haven't yet marched with us, imagine, in this severely troubled world where it is so hard to know how to make a difference, that you can, in a few hours on a summer day, march for something you believe in.

Novato, it is true, regarded our early efforts with some skepticism. No more. PeaceNovato's parade entry is one of the most popular and has earned several awards.  Perhaps one of the most significant unoffical "awards": during one parade, as we marched past an intersection, a solitary man in military uniform stood at attention and saluted as the cranes past.

Do you want to make a difference?  Come march with us.

This year we need 50 marchers.  We are asking for a firm commitment by June 28 so we will know that we can bring all of the Peace Cranes of of storage.  If you can march with us please email PeaceNovato@hotmail.com or call or text Don at (415) 419-7323.

If you can't march with us, give the crane carriers a hand as they go by.

See you on the Fourth.
