The is looking for a new home as its lease at Pacheco Plaza shopping center creeps toward its June 30 expiration.
The will finish out its 2011-12 season with Noises Off and a search is on for a new space to start the 2012-13 season as planned in the fall.
management has worked with the company so it can complete all of its scheduled performances and is also renting them temporary storage and rehearsal space in the former Westamerica Bank building in the shopping center.
According to Sandi Rubay, the new president of the company's board of directors, the departure from the 87-seat theater will make way for new retail next door to the deli.
“We’re still looking for performance space and we have some good prospects,” said Rubay.
She said the ideal location would have roughly 4,500 square feet of space with 14-foot high ceilings and allow for public assembly. Property managers of the on Grant Avenue said they had negotations with the troupe but nothing materialized.
The company has a long history in Novato, beginning in 1919. It has proven time and time again that the show will go on, ever since its home at the was red-tagged by the fire marshal in 2004. NTC staged shows in several locations before landing at Pacheco Plaza, and the group staved off eviction in 2009 by signing an extension.
Rubay points to the growth and success of the company over the past three years and by the Bay Area Critics Awards.
“We’re positive that we will have our season and that we will eventually land in a space,” said Rubay-Turner. “In the meantime, we’re pretty good at dancing.”
Pacifics Baseball Caravan Stops on Grant
is hosting the baseball team “Caravan” on Friday, May 18, at the Novato branch at 1450 Grant Ave. from noon–1 p.m.
The lunchtime event is open to the public to meet the team and will help kick off the first season for the Pacifics with Opening Day on June 4. The Pacifics' team mascot, Sir Francis the Drake, will be available for photos, and drawings will be held for free tickets and team merchandise. Baseball-themed refreshments will also be served.
“As the first corporate sponsor for the Pacifics, we are proud to support the team in their inaugural season and are looking forward to a great season of local baseball,” said Russell A. Colombo, President and CEO of Bank of Marin.
The Pacifics will play 42 home games at Albert Park, a 750-seat facility in downtown San Rafael, between June 4 and Aug. 26.
Shred Event in Ignacio
A free Paper Shredding & E-waste Recycling Event is set for May 19 from noon to 3 p.m. at the . Financial professionals will be on-hand to answer questions about which documents to retain and the proper disposal of confidential material to reduce the risk of identity theft.
I Got E-Waste, Inc. will also be partnering on the event to collect old computers, cell phones, stereos and other electronic gadgets. The state sponsored program promotes recycling material to divert it from landfills.

Circle Bank HQ Progressing
's new headquarters, a mixed-used building at the corner of Redwood Boulevard and Grant Avenue, is right on track with its construction schedule, according to spokesman Gary Tobin. He said 999 Grant Ave. will be finished before the end of the year and ready to be occupied in 2013.
The bank is to use the upper floor as an adminstrative center and have a small walk-in bank for customers on the first floor, on the south side of the building facing Redwood. The rest of the first floor is to be occupied by retail merchants and possibly a restaurant. Some of the "skin" should be in evidence over the next couple of weeks, he said.
