Mayor Lucan's blog

Mayor Eric-thanks for the PR- three opportunities are given to you to make a difference for Novato.  These are supporting small businesses, such as Sloats, Anderson nurseries, Novato Lumber, Pini’s , Tresh Galleria and  voting against a Friedman’s or Lowe’s or Best Buy near the railroad tracks.  Instead, your support of a Novato’s feed store is a good thing as it shows that you like the rural suburban feel of Marin and want to keep that authenticity.      Another opportunity as a leader is supporting placing 3-6 million dollars into the pension liability fund for future payouts so that Novato  will not be short-changed in the future with an increased need to raise taxes.

Finally, there is the opportunity to support having 25 foot setback instead of  the zero setback code on Redwood Blvd in order to have new construction complement the existing General Plan with 2-3 story buildings, especially at the Mission Lodge site.  Your supporting of keeping the frontage road, its trees and small businesses accessible with a well designed smaller new construction on the Mission Lodge site will show that you care about Novato’s small town character.  This is what your public announcements imply-again, thank you.
