Incumbent Journal Filters out Relevance?

It's always interesting to see what the IJ has to say.  What they consider important.  The "News" of the day and week supposedly adorn the front page. Then there are those relevant secondary stories spread throughout till you get to my favorite page--the Political/Editorial/readers Forum/Letters to the editor.

Now keeping in mind that we have just had an election.  That there was an upset in that election. That there was a message from Novato voters to Judy Arnold !  That there was a message to the Marin County Board of Supervisors.  That the final count in the Novato race has not been finalized--we read on--hoping for relevant content.

So do we see any article having anything to do with any of the points above--NO.

What do we see?  Well on the front page stories on Housing---New/Remodel/Opposition--dominate the space.

On my favorite page the editorial is--"Pedestrian Street Safety"  Now of course this give me pause, because on the one hand here in Novato our city is working on how to rebuild Redwood Blvd from Delong to San Marin but on the other hand are we to believe that the Editor scanned the local horizon and this subject is the most important thing he could find to inform the Marin County citizens of?

The Election just passed is no longer important?  The final count and who is watching the store to make sure the ballots don't end up in" Lake Merritt"---instead of being counted--is not worthy of mention?  The Citizens of Novato and Marin don't want to know why it takes 2 full weeks to count 200 ballots?   Judy's thoughts on why and how she alienated half the population of Novato?  Toni's opinion on why half the voters in Novato want change?  What effect on the election was the fact that a large swath of voters were carved out of Novato and given to Kinsey?  Why the local "newspapers" spent a pound of ink on Judy but only an ounce on Toni?  Why the apathy of our local voters--do they think--and have we just proved --that they don't count?

Well on to the Letters to the editor--all 4 of them--again NO letter about our recent election?  NO citizen sent any comment in with regard to politics/elections/issues---?  Oh ok!  Would that be true--or did it or they get caught up in the filter?  This from a newspaper that took 3 full days to acknowledge that there was indeed a contest in the Novato district 5 Supervisor race!--But we do have a comment from a Librarian thanking the voters for voting for libraries.

On to Marin Voice and we hear the shrill non factual opinion of none other than Eric Swift who is not to swift in pointing out that pensions as administered are not sustainable.  This from a man who is deep in the company of those that are the beneficiaries--no surprise there.  Swift is attacking Spotswood for pointing out that there is indeed a problem begging for a solution!

Then in between front and back page is an article very important to the local citizens---a warning of sorts--that if by chance you run in to a moose------or her calf---- -say on Mt Tam or at the beach--or maybe even at the Village Mall---you should not attempt to  kidnap the little darling as it could mean the end of you.  Apparently a Moose in Marin is more important than local politics'?
