Memorial Service for Dick Scott on March 2

Scott retired from the City of Novato's public works department in 2011 and was a volunteer with Novato Boy Scout Troop 42.

Richard Allan Scott (Dick), of Novato, passed away February 23, 2013 after a short illness.

Born in 1946, Dick graduated from Novato High School in 1965. He earned an AA Degree from College of Marin, and later served in the US Navy.

Dick is survived by his wife Lydia, son Robert, mother Gloria Scott, sisters Nancy Moxie and Judi Scott-Dewing, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Stanley Scott and son David Scott.

In 2011, he retired from the City of Novato Public Works Department after 37 years of service.

Dick was involved in Boy Scout Troop 42 of Novato for many years throughout the 90's with his sons, according to former scoutmaster Dennis Hagerty. He took part in dozens, if not hundreds, of scouting activities, as well as helped develop the luminaria fundraising program into what has become today with over 20,000 luminarias distributed to homes and businesses in Novato, said Hagerty.

Former and current scouts will be doing a color guard presentation at the memorial service that will be held at Keaton's Chapel of Marin, 1801 Novato Blvd., Novato at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 2
