Death Notice: Moses Richard Davalos, 89

Moses Richard Davalos Passed peacefully in Novato on December 26, 2013 at the age of 89, fulfilling his promise to be with his children one last time on Christmas, according to Legacy.com.

With him by his side was his son, Henry Davalos, daughters Mitzie Davalos, Terrie Marshall (Ken) and his granddaughter Shannon Whitney Owen (Chris).

Davalos, known to friends as "Moy" was born on March 10, 1924 in Pueblo, Colorado to Josefina Barreno and Eugenio Davalos Jr. He grew up in El Paso, Texas where he remained until he enlisted in the Navy on May of 1943. Moy was very proud of his service to his country. Point System Victory Medal WWII, American Theatre, he received one Silver Star and six Bronze stars for The Asiatic Pacific, and two Bronze stars for the Philippine liberation.

With often a heavy heart, he would recall the many men that were lost and were saved aboard his beloved ship the USS ALMAACK AK-10 a class attack cargo ship who's speed topped 18.6 knots.

After the war, Moy moved his family to Marin and he settled in San Anselmo. He started Ad Lite Crane Service that he ran with his son Henry for 48 years until his retirement at the age of 83.

Moy will be forever missed by his family, sisters, Armida Rambke, Josie King, and brother Hector Davalos, granddaughter Shannon Owen, and two great grandchildren, Winston Ortiz and Madalena Owen along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his wife, Marie and her children, Craig Torres, (Claudia,) Carlos Torres, and Dana Moore, (Brent) their six children and his beloved dog Riley. At his request, a military service will be held in his honor on Friday, January 3, 1pm at Valley Memorial, 650 Bugeia Lane, Novato.
