On Wednesday, September 5, the NUSD Budget Advisory Committee held its first monthly meeting of the 2012-13 school year. Those in attendance included teachers, staff, principals, community members and board members.
I shared budget information including the potential negative impacts should the Governor's tax initiative, Proposition 30, fail. The impact will be a loss of $3.3 million on-going revenue which would result in reductions in teachers, staff and administrators, possible reduction in number of school days and work days, and class sizes at all grade levels.
A webpage dedicated to NUSD Budget Information has been created and can be found here. Information on both Proposition 30 and 38 can be found on this site as well as a short piece from School Services of California called "What Happens if Proposition 38 Passes and Proposition 30 Fails?" In addition, information presented at the September 5 meeting and future meetings can be found under Budget Advisory Committee on the NUSD Budget Information page.

Tax, Tax, Tax is Brown's motto. I look at what is taken out of my paycheck every two weeks. Where is the money going? Not to the schools, butto the big fat pensions of the politicians and government workers, not the children. The children will suffer as always. I feel badly, but I can't vote to tax myself anymore.
I don't blame you or anyone else that is tired of the tax, tax, tax attitudes in Sacramento. I am afraid that the local schools have already lost so many tax dollars due to the state withholding payment of the ADA due to the budget crisis. In city's like Larkspur and Ross their property more than pay for their schools. Novato is a low wealth district so we only get a fraction of the ADA of the Southern Marin cities. It is a horrible choice to have to make. I understand.
