MSA Zydeco Dance Party With Grammy Nominee Andre Thierry

The Rock Band program at Marin School of the Arts will host Thierry and his band on Jan. 18 at Novato High.

Every once in a while a truly unique cultural opportunity comes to the doorstep of the Novato community. Over the past few months, Marin School of the Arts Rock Band program has laid the groundwork for exactly this type of rare event, one that will bring the uniquely jubilant and layered sounds of the accordian and Gulf Coast Zydeco to the gym at Novato High.

At 7 p.m Jan. 18, Zydeco superstar Andre Thierry and his band Zydeco Music will headline a "Zydeco Dance Party."

A current Grammy nominee, Thierry is a renown composer and accordian virtuoso, considered to be one of the best musicians playing Zydeco music today. He is also a passionate educator and advocate for music education and the significant role it plays in the lives of children.  Now, through a collaboration between Thierry, Marin School of the Arts Rock Band Director Rhian Robinson, and Performing Stars of Marin Executive Director Felicia Gaston, the MSA Rock Band program will host an exciting night of original music, dance lessons, and a special performance by Thierry and his band, Zydeco Magic.

Thierry has been working with MSA Rock Band students, offering them a rich musical learning experience.  This collaboration will result in a fabulous night of original Zydeco music performed by Thierry's band as well as by MSA Rock Band students. And don't miss out on the Zydeco dance lessons with Bay Area Zydeco dancers.

All ages are welcome.  This is an event not to be missed!
