Marin's JROTC and Novato High School are sending students to great colleges. First, the JROTC celebrated sending three students to the prestigious Air Force Academy (AFA) during their recent JROTC awards night held last Friday, May 10th. Cadets Alanna LoVetri, Nick Langevin, and Allison Skidmore have been accepted into the Fall 2013 AFA class. The three students earned college scholarships at the AFA that is valued over $480,000. The AFA representative stated that over 9,000 graduating high school students competed for the selective positions. Second, cadet David Phan was awarded an acceptance letter to U.C. San Diego at the awards night. David Phan, the cadet corps leader, also was awarded scholarships and awards from both the Novato Republican Women Federated and the Military Officers Association of America during the ceremony. Lastly, Mr. Hiroshi "Yoshi" Yamaguchi is very proud the JROTC has awarded over $1 million dollars in college benefits in the last five years.
