The has reached the halfway mark of a three-month nationwide challenge to find homes for more animals than ever before. Join us to celebrate at our annual Woofstock music festival on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. This year, Woofstock is being combined with a first ever FEE-WAIVED adoptathon for dogs and cats.
MHS is the only shelter in the Bay Area competing in the Rachael Ray $100K Challenge, which is sponsored by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. We are one of 50 shelters nationwide competing for thousands of dollars in grant funding, including a $100,000 grand prize.
To qualify for grant funding, MHS must find homes, either through adoptions or reuniting lost animals with their guardians, for at least 300 more cats and dogs in August, September and October than we did over the same period in 2011. Our goal is to find homes for 1,200 animals between Aug. 1 and Oct. 31, nearly double our number from last year.
Along with a fee-waived adoptathon, Woofstock will feature an outdoor concert from 2 to 5 p.m. with music by Petty Theft and the Whiskey Thieves. No entry fee but donations encouraged.
