Wildland Fire Contained Near Olema

Woodacre, CA – Crews from the Marin County Fire Department responded to a vegetation fire near the West Marin town of Olema shortly before 2 p.m. June 13 and contained it to 1.5 acres.

The fire, located across from the post office adjacent to Highway 1, was contained in less than an hour by 15 firefighters, according to Battalion Chief Mike Giannini. A downed power line sparked the blaze, he said.

The roadway was temporarily closed in the area for safety and to facilitate the movement of fire apparatus. No structures were threatened and there were no reported injuries.
