No mention of the slush fund that for the second time in ten years has been the subject of scalding Marin Grand Jury reports condemning. They hope we all just lead our everyday lives and forget but it will not happen this time. This political patronage fund needs to be eliminate. When will the supervisors eliminate this fund? Will it take a Federal Grand Jury? Supervisors it is show time.
Anne Reynolds January 13, 2013 at 01:42 am
Al Dugan you are right on target. Did you read today's IJ's (Jan 12, 2013) letters to the editor? There is public OUTRAGE about the slush fund. Supervisors know the public is upset, wants it abolished, but still the Supervisors just want to make "adjustments." If they had any morals, they would abolish it. A little Congress we have in Marin County. Just terrible. The Supervisors have NO SHAME.

I want a $10,000 annual car allowance like Judy Arnold. Why should she get paid to drive to work?
The question remains, will Arnold lead the charge in getting rid of the slush fund or does she need it for her upcoming election?
R. Barton January 13, 2013 at 08:56 pm
Today's IJ is even more compelling!
The county's wayward lawsuits "cost us millions of dollars and should never have been brought, to cover a case pertaining to a computer system that cost us $30 million and that never should have been purchased," fumed Jody Morales, founder of Marin's Citizens for Sustainable Pension Plans, in an email. "The crowning insult: a signed agreement, behind closed doors that shields them from public scrutiny."

They will keep Om coming.....I take it the supervisors are consulting with you on the matter?

I'm all for constructive dialogue, where we can disagree on an issue, without being personal. Civil discourse helps those on both sides of an issue to understand the other side of the coin. However, it seems that you don't agree, and just like to get nasty without contributing much of substance to the conversation. I flagged you, because you were rude to Al Dugan, and got personal without offering anything to the conversation.
I wonder how much your comments would change, if you were to sign your real name. Do you notice how many sites don't let people use an alias anymore, to stop the trolls? Maybe you should try signing your real name the next time you want to comment, and notice how much it has an effect on what you have to say.

This was emailed to me by someone who attended. So many Bay Area Residents oppose Governments PlanRead More Bay Area.

Susan thank you for posting this. Chris Pareja is an articulate speaker whose message needs to beRead More acknowledged. While community activists claim Plan Bay Area is the answer Chris uses their own statistics to point out how little is accomplished and the real hypocrisy behind advocates claims that it will provide "equity". Chris attended the Plan Bay Area Debate at the Civic Center and spoke there as well. Kinsey completely ignored his comments and kept repeating the party line: Plan Bay Area is the only answer we have so it is "good enough." Anyone who hasn't yet should take the time to watch the debate as it is a real eye opener. Kinsey's responses are quite disconcerting if he is being touted as the local expert on Plan Bay Area. I was shocked by how little he seems to understand. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOE7Hyd5B40&feature=youtu.be

Hi Jim. Thanks for clarifying . Most of us assumed you were the new Novato Patch editor.
Jim Welte (Editor) June 17, 2013 at 10:55 am
Which is a fair assumption since my name and face are on it for now. Sorry for the confusion. In theRead More interim, I am more than happy to answer questions or address any concerns about the new design or our coverage of the community.
Tina McMillan June 17, 2013 at 01:03 pm
Jim What is the best way to reach you with questions and offers of help? If there is a way toRead More personalize each Patch to its community that would make a huge difference. Brent would post news articles as the primary focus. The comparison to a "penny saver" is the biggest problem with the new design. It does not favor news which is what many people are interested in. If San Rafael Patch is hosting the Plan Bay Area articles then doesn't it make sense to cross post them to Novato's front page too? Looking for news was never a problem with the old Patch, now finding the news in the middle of the garage sales, ads for businesses and announcements is where many people are stuck. It's unfortunate that Back Bay is the old design. It means corporate is throwing out what was the best of Patch. Is there anyone to write to, to suggest that the changes in format are not supportive of a online news source?
