Home Invasion Has Hamilton Folks Buzzing

Perhaps security cameras could keep us safer? Save police time? Make investigations cheaper and more effective?

“Did you hear about the home invasion?" Arriving for my once-a-week free exercise “Bootcamp” near the Hamilton pool, I was wondering as always if I would humiliate myself in front of my very fit and younger neighbors.

Home invasion?  This is Novato, this is my safe cozy Hamilton neighborhood where we easily recognize strangers.  How could we have a home invasion here, a block from my house?   Two masked robbers knocked on a neighbor’s door before 6 a.m. on a Saturday, burst into the home and held the teenager who answered the door captive.

Well obviously the invaders were amateurs … they  were young, they had no visible weapon and they fled when they saw how many people were in the house.  But the family experienced a terrifying event.  They will no longer feel safe in their home. The police came and took fingerprints.  When I called Sargent John McCarthy of the Novato PD he said they have an “active investigation.”

Perhaps security cameras could keep us safer?  Save police time?  Make investigations cheaper and more effective? Like Tiburon we only have two routes into Hamilton.   And we have only two one or two streets into each Hamilton neighborhood.  Anyone driving into Hamilton to commit a crime would know they were on tape.  For a home invasion at 5:30 a.m. the police could check the tapes to see the robbers arrive and leave.
