Novato Cash Mob Strikes Again!

This just in:  At approximately 11:00 am last Saturday, a large group of people flooded into the Grant Avenue Florist, demanding that all of the empty vases they had brought with them be filled with beautiful flower arrangements.

Owners Yvonne Lanterman and her daughter Michael were only too happy to comply.

Grant Avenue Florist has been a fixture of downtown Novato since 1952.  Yvonne and Michael purchased the business in January of this year and have spent the time filling vases with flower arrangements and bringing smiles to all that stop by.

I bought my first arrangement there about four months ago.  I was so over-the-top impressed by the arrangement that they prepared for me that I knew I would have to bring the Novato Cash Mob by someday so that others could also discover this small treasure in our midst.

Be sure to stop by and say hello to the two very personable owners.  Be sure to take note of the creativity spent making this small shop a warm and inviting stop along the way to wherever you might be headed.

The Novato Cash Mob is a group of local people interested in promoting awareness about local small businesses.  We periodically choose a business to “mob”.  We typically meet for coffee somewhere near our target.  When it time to go, we do it with the best of “civilized” mobishness.

We always spend money.   We buy things for ourselves or we buy things for others.  This time, mobsters Dinah and Marie had 10 vases filled at Grant Avenue Florist.  They then took their “loot” and passed it out amongst local elderly people at a local health care facility.

This was truly a Win-Win-Win scenario.

As members of the Novato Cash Mob, we all had a great time.  Many of us were meeting each other for the first time; the first time of many more times to come.

The gifts from Dinah and Marie brightened the lives of those most in need of it.

And then there is the Star of the Show – Grant Avenue Florist.

This is our town and as such, we need to embrace each other; including our local businesses.  Not because I’m telling you to; but because you know it will make you feel better to be part of the community.
