Is this news or just another free advertisement by some real estate outfit? Hardly "Novato's Priciest." Thirteen year old "stucco starter castle" on a "postage stamp sized lot" last sold for $855,000 and they can't get $669,000 for it today. "City (read: "zero") views..." "Near public transportation and a skate park...." and it boasts a garage! So, from the looks of it, your reporter missed the story: Why hasn't it sold?

I absolutely agree with Robert. Priciest home in Novato 699k? How about the close to 1.7 new construction on Atherton. Reeks of false "advertising" to me.

Yes, and frankly a 2245 sq ft home built on a 4000 sq ft lot in 2000 is way overpriced at $669,000. A prior sale in 2005 at $855K (peak of bubble) is about right and should serve to tell us how out of control people got spending money on housing. The real "minus" here is the 4000 ft. lot. Yes, this is definitely NOT one of Novato's priciest, but rather a free advertisement. I'm sure it is nice inside, but it really is a deceptive title of the article.

The house has a sold sign that went up within a few days of being listed so I'm not sure what this is about

"recently built" 2000? I'd rather this be labeled as an advertisement than be thought a fool.

agreed.

I agree, Novato's priciest homes, not so much. These are middle class suburban homes and that house is SOLD and sold in less than a week. Unless you live in Hamilton please don't speak for why we buy our so called "postage stamp" homes. Also don't assume ALL got out of control, some of us have very good loan to values even with the cost of housing in the past. We we do have that is very different from any other community here in Novato is our neighborhood is a mini "village" of sorts. Our homes are beautiful, large open space entertaining, our lot size may be small, but we have open space as our backyard and parks in walking distance. We are bonded here is Hamilton indicative of the good old days, ek hmmm we actually talk/know/socialize with our direct neighbors, watching out and caring for eachother and our children as if they were our own. Our kids have grown up together 6months to 10 and that my friends is invaluable. We PREFER not to spend our weekends nor waste natural resources maintianing yards with acreage typically gone unused. Instead we spend our weekends engaging in FAMILY and eachother. To each his own don't judge unless you have seen what we have in Hamilton for yourself. I have an only child and the children in hamilton are my childs suto siblings and that my friends is invaluable to me and my family. And lets not forget we all pay higher property taxes on average 1900 to live here and thus pay more to assist city services for our QUALITY of life here.

Good job Kolleen! there's nothing wrong with Hamilton and the new restaurant Beso is great as well.

Every time I see these, they have very, very fuzzy pictures and are all WAY cheaper than houses I see on the market in Novato. Is this just an advertising column?
