Put Flavor First with Cheryl Forberg of "The Biggest Loser"

Meet Cheryl Forberg, RD, nutritionist for NBC's "The Biggest Loser," with Fresh Starts Chef Events on Aug. 8 to enjoy recipes from her latest cookbook along with her knowledge from 13 seasons of helping people remake their bodies, their diets and their lives.

She'll present a special fundraising evening from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at The Key Room in Novato with a menu from her latest book, "Flavor First," which showcases 75 recipes to produce both healthy meals and really good food.

Her menu will be enhanced by wines from La Playa Vineyards in Chile, owned and distributed by Novato's Cab.Corp. They will offer La Playa Estate Cabernet Sauvignon and La Playa Estate “Un-Oaked” Chardonnay by the glass as well as complementary pairing for two courses.

Her menu:

  • Grilled Shrimp Cocktail with Fire Roasted Cocktail Sauce (La Playa Estate Sauvignon Blanc)
  • Spicy Beef Satay with Portobello and Asparagus (La Playa Block Reserve Claret)
  • Pumpkin Flan with Ginger Biscotti
One of the few professional chefs who also is a registered dietitian, Forberg
has created delicious, healthy recipes for "The Biggest Loser" as well as contributing to best-selling titles developed from the show.

She was part of the team that opened Wolfgang Puck's Postrio restaurant in San Francisco as well as author of the James Beard award-winning "New Mayo Clinic Cookbook." We'll have her latest book available for purchase -- get a personal autograph!

Tickets cost $55 include dinner and two tastings; wines by the glass will be available for purchase. To register, visit Fresh Starts Chef Events online or call 415-382-3363 x243.

The event takes place in the showcase kitchen at the Next Key Center, 1385 N. Hamilton Parkway, in Novato. All proceeds benefit shelter and job-training programs at Homeward Bound of Marin.
