Calling all cyclists – are you open to a new adventure on Sunday, Sept. 16?
If you’d like to have a great day cycling in the Palo Alto Gran Fondo while supporting Homeward Bound of Marin, please check the Gran Fondo website for details about joining the team from Echelon Vineyards.
The Gran Fondo is a cycling event – not a race! – with courses of 30 to 95 miles. Riders start at 8 a.m. in downtown Palo Alto and return there to enjoy an open-air festival with music and food.
Echelon Vineyards, whose parent company is Winery Exchange of Novato, formed its cycling team to benefit Homeward Bound with the Napa Gran Fondo in May. The effort is an extension of the volunteering done by Winery Exchange employees with Homeward Bound, the county’s largest provider of shelter and services to homeless families and individuals.
Winery Exchange has organized groups to work in the gardens at New Beginnings Center, polish molds for Halo Truffles and make meals for Homeward Bound residents. They most recently delivered backpacks filled with school supplies for children living with Homeward Bound.
For those not inclined to cycle, the Palo Alto event includes a 1-kilometer circuit in downtown Palo Alto for walkers, runners and families with strollers or people using wheelchairs.
Visit the online registration for the Echelon Vineyards team to join the fun. You can read more in the Gran Fondo blog post featuring Homeward Bound.
