Rickey’s kicks off new outdoor summer music series ‘Under the Magnolia Tree’

Rickey’s Restaurant has had such great feedback to their dinnertime music in the restaurant that, they decided to move it outdoors to their stage “Under the Magnolia Tree” in the courtyard. The kick-off will be the holiday 4th of July weekend on Sunday, July 3 at the restaurant at 250 Entrada Drive in the Ignacio area of Novato.  The event makes a perfect accompaniment to other outdoor activities for those folks staying home and doing a staycation this year, said proprietor John Marshall. The inaugural concert will feature the band Revolver, playing Beatles and other great '60s tunes. Revolver is a trio of seasoned musicians, who grew up rocking to the sounds of the ‘60s and were inspired by the songwriting and melodic hooks of groups like the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Hollies, Kinks, Animals, Lovin' Spoonful and Buffalo Springfield. Some of the first tunes they learned were some of these well-crafted gems from artists of the ‘60s. Their love and appreciation for that genre of music is why they decided to form the group Revolver in the first place. All three members are singers and multi-instrumentalists, giving Revolver a full and versatile sound including great lead singing, three-part harmonies, and a musical blend of guitars, keyboards, bass, drums and percussion. It's a big sound for three guys. Revolver is: Michael Budash on guitars, keyboards and vocals, Barry Blum on bass guitar, guitars, keyboards and vocals, and Dan Durkin on drums, rhythm guitar, keyboards, harmonica and vocals. A portion of the proceeds from the kick-off will benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life team of the Ignacio Rotary Club. In recognition of the relay and the 4th of July holiday weekend, there will be sack races for the kids, horseshoes, croquet, face painting and the pool will be open so feel free to bring a swimsuit — all perfect summertime activities. Cover is $10 and a menu offering summertime fare to eat outside under the trees will be available, as well as beer and wine. The full bar in the restaurant will also be open. (No outside picnic baskets or drinks are permitted.) Come kick off the holiday and the summer season with Rickey's! Doors open at 2. Come early to get a good seat.  The band plays from 3 to 5 p.m., making this event a perfect family and holiday outing. Sack races will be held at 2:30 p.m..  The next concert is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 7, so save the date. Make reservations at 415-883-9477 and become Rickey’s friend on Facebook to keep abreast of upcoming performances.
