Holy Ghost Festa

The I.D.E.S.I. of Novato celebrates its 106th Holy Ghost Festa on Sunday, May 20. The parade forms in front of the Hall, 901 Sweetser Avenue, at 9:30 am, and travels down Grant Avenue to Our Lady Of Loretto Church for the 10:30 Mass.

Luncheon of “sopas e carne” (sliced French bread soaked in a meat and vegetable broth and served with roasted beef ) will be served at 11 a.m. and after the parade arrives from church about 1 p.m. A concert and dance follow in the afternoon.

The dinner of “sopas e carne” is at 6 p.m. following by dancing.

The Little Queen is Katrina Quinn, daughter of James & Cecilia Quinn of Novato. Her side maids are Anna & Claire Kilgariff, daughters of Steve & Yvonne Kilgariff of Novato.

Junior Queen is Jennifer Moules, daughter of Paulo & Francisca Moules of Santa Rosa. Her side maids are: Elexine & Eliana Martinez, daughters of Rickey Martinez & Silvia Rocha of Newman.

Senior Queen is Mariana Leal, daughter of Alberto & Mary Leal of Santa Rosa. Her side maids are: her sister Isabella & Gina Hervey, daughter of John & Linda Zepponi Hervey of Sebastopol.

Saint Isabel is Theresa Righettii, daughter of Kelly & Annette Righetii of Santa Rosa.

This event is free of charge and everyone is welcome to partake of our celebration which dates back to the 13th  Century when Queen Isabel of Portugal, great devotee of the Holy Ghost, started the tradition of feeding the hungry and the poor on Pentecost Sunday.
