Mindset Works - The New Psychology of Success

Good
Shepherd Lutheran School is hosting Mindset Works, adult education workshop, on
Tuesday, October 22 from7-8:30 p.m. Mindset Works is based on the award-winning
book, Mindset: The New Psychology of
Success,
written by Standford professor, Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D. The premise
of Mindset: The New Psychology of Success
is the idea that people exercise either a growth or a fixed mindset. Dweck explains
that mindsets begin in childhood, extend into adulthood and can drive multiple
aspects of our lives, ranging from parenting and relationships, to sports and
work.

“We
are thrilled to offer Mindset Works to the community,” says Karen Kane, K-5 Director
of School. “The program offers valuable insight to a new way of thinking and
achieving success, which applies to numerous areas of our life - especially how
we interact with our children. Mindset Works affords adults the opportunity to
help themselves as well as ensures that they pass the right tools onto their
children.”

Facilitating
the workshop is Emily Diehl, a member of Carol Dweck’s team, and Curriculum and
Professional Learning Specialist for Mindset Works. The program will offer
detailed information on growth and fixed mindsets, as well as highlight topics
that work in conjunction, such as discussing foods that promote brain
development and teaching children calming strategies.
