Divorce is one of the major stressors of american life, especially since most marriages in the United States end in divorce. It is usually a traumatic and gut-wrenching experience, as many things that we once held dear and dependable are gone from our lives. Anger and resentment can linger for many male divorcees, and both anxiety and depression can dominate our daily lives if we do not find a way to express our deeply held emotions and process our pain and suffering.
Despite these difficulties, surviving divorce is an opportunity to begin redefining our sense of self in the world while we go about the business of re-inventing our lives. As we open up to our grief and depth of emotion, we also increase our capacity for joy and contact with others. We can begin to move towards the unknown with faith and trust, and to explore possibilities that we have previously ignored and avoided. We can begin to transform our surviving into thriving.
This group is facilitated by a psychotherapist who has personally experienced the trauma and loss inherent in the separation and divorce of a long-term marriage, and who now specializes in helping men to grow beyond their pain and suffering while finding pathways to reconnect with energy, purpose, and love. There are parts of this journey that are enhanced and empowered by sharing with other men in the same boat. Call 415-264-8892 for details and a free consultation.
