An appointed official giving the State of the City address? That seems a bit odd. Even the POTUS gives the State of the Union address to Congress in person! While the mayoral title may be mostly ceremonial, it still could be the one to give this address. And "the event is presented by the Novato Chamber of Commerce?" Sorry, they should be kept separate at what (at least in name) is a City event. I assume the City council will not be there?

Hey, Michael Frank is a great guy who's working hard, but if it's really the "state of the city" that you're interested in, well... "8;00 AM to 9:00 AM and $10 for the continental breakfast and networking session that begins at 7:30 a.m" pretty much says it all. I'd a thunk he deserved "prime time" at the very least! And what, exactly, is a "networking session" anyway?

Why is it that for the second year in a row Mr. Frank's address comes with a fee? Why not open the address to all Novato residents and stop using it as a fundraiser?

No. I will wait for them to publish the PDF.

Tina - it is free.. If you want to come early for refreshments, that is $10. But, if you don't want to eat, come at 8 am and pay nothing to attend.

some City council members will be there for sure - so I have heard. Mayor is appointed by the council to run the meetings - that is basically it. They cant be in a role of speaking for the whole council when they were not elected Mayor by people.
