College of Marin Drama 2014 Speaker Series: To Be or Not to Be; When and If to Join the Union

College of Marin Drama Department
alumnae, labor representative and a seasoned acting administrator will share stories
from their professional acting journeys and participation in major labor unions
for the industry—Actor's
Equity
and SAG-AFTRA.



The public is invited to participate in
a question and answer session that will follow the moderated event. It is the
first in a series of open presentations hosted by the College of Marin Drama
Department.

Panel Moderator Dale Albright has worked for Theatre Bay Area since 2001, where he
currently serves as director of field services. He provides programming and
support to Theatre Bay Area’s 2,500 individual members and 350 theatre company
members and administers all of Theatre Bay Area’s granting programs. He is an
actor, director, playwright, producer, and arts administrator.



College of Marin alumna Marcia Pizzo has performed in theatre, film,
television and commercials for over 25 years, portraying many of the great
Shakespearean women from Lady Macbeth to Cleopatra and musical theatre roles such
as “Anna” in the King and I and “Eliza
Doolittle” in My Fair Lady. Her
television career includes guest spots on Falcon
Crest
, Knight Rider, Nash Bridges and Trauma, as well as film performances in Bicentennial Man, Fruit of
the Vine, This Space Between Us
, and Delta
Fever

Anni
Long
, another College of Marin alumna, toured the U.S. with the
National Shakespeare Co. at the age of 19, playing the title role in G. B. Shaw’s
Saint Joan. She went on to work for
as an associate artist at South Coast Repertory Theatre in Costa Mesa,
performing in over 60 classical and contemporary plays. In 1991, she returned
to the Bay Area and worked in various Bay Area theatres while building a media
career in film, television, commercials, and voiceover recording. She served as
the San Francisco Screen Actors Guild branch president for three years, SAG
national board director for two years, and SAG-AFTRA National Convention
delegate for three years. She co-founded the Bay Area Film Alliance, a
non-profit advocacy organization dedicated to increasing film and television
production in Northern California. She retired from acting in 2003 to work for
Actors Equity Assoc. as the San Francisco Business Representative,
administering contracts and serving the needs of actors and stage managers in
live theatre throughout the nine greater Bay Area counties.
