Mayor's Weekly (Mar 24 - Mar 30)

Novato's Mayor Eric Lucan shares city news, events and meetings on the horizon, and on occasion a few spontaneous thoughts.

On my Mind
Tomorrow is opening day for our national pastime and I am definitely looking forward to another season of Giants baseball.  Having grown up a Giants fan, I certainly have a lot of fond memories.  Not sure which one tops the list, but my first game at Candlestick, watching the 1989 World Series when the earthquake hit, an 18 inning game at AT&T, kayaking in McCovey Cove, and 2 recent championships are in the top 5.

With baseball on my mind, I am reminded of a quote from Franklin Roosevelt, "I have no expectation of making a hit every time I come to bat. What I seek is the highest possible batting average, not only for myself, but for my team."  I think that quote is highly applicable in life and as a councilmember.  Every decision made is like an at bat and as a decision maker, there are times when I strike out, make a sac fly, hit a single, or maybe a rare homerun.  I am sure some of my decisions or positions are considered a ground out by some and a single by others.  That is the nature of the position.  Just as in baseball, no one ever gets to a place where they hit a homerun at every at bat.  However, what one should learn is to hit for average and not just swing for the fences.  Even when you strike out, remember, that is just one at bat.  Each game still has 9 innings and beyond that, there are 162 games a year.  My hope is to continually improve my swing over the years through practice and adaptation.  And let’s not forget, Go Giants!

Marin County Council of Mayors & Councilmembers – Once a month the city councils throughout Marin connect with each other.  This past week, Belvedere hosted and our speaker was Kristina Hill, Ph.D., Berkeley Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture & Environmental Planning.  Her talk was titled “Adapting Urban Shoreline: Lessons Learned from Europe & Asia” and focused on how to handle coastal adaptation and sea level rise.

For example every state that grabs guns soon goes to pot. ( legalization). Then they will later have government doctors / informants of Obamacaere asking if they use marijuana and if they have a gun in the house , then when pot causes depression or psychosis they will prescribe heavier antidepressants and label you unfit to exercise your 2nd Amendment rights..Less potential resistance to tyranny..At they same time they will brainwash and mobilize the pothead urban inner city youth to be the brown shirts or khmer rouge to become Obama's "civilian military force" "just as powerful and just as well armed as the military" while they rout the long time military leadership of anyone who would oppose Obama or doesnt go along with the new program....demasculinization of the military and downsizing our defensive capabilities

Eric-so it wasn't you who deleted my post. Good for you, being able to take the heat. We're not hot tub buddy's yet, but you're learning here in cow town to get through a tough stretch, something that will serve you well in Sacramento. Now do the right thing. Tell us what you think about the bus station without checking the polls.
