Mayor's Weekly (June 9 – June 15)

Novato's Mayor Eric Lucan shares city news, events and meetings on the horizon, and on occasion a few spontaneous thoughts.

On my Mind
Happy Father’s Day to all Novato dads and congratulations to all the new grads!  It was definitely a busy weekend in town with all the celebrations and of course the Novato Festival of Art, Wine, and Music.  I had a great time volunteering at one of the wine booths on Saturday and at the end of the day, we were able to catch up with Crystal Bowersox for a quick photo after her performance.

I’d like to extend a special thank you to all volunteers and sponsors who made this year’s festival possible and the chamber of commerce for organizing another incredible weekend.  I ended up coming back both days and saw the same volunteers working behind the scenes at the two stages, delivering ice, cleaning up trash, and covering all the logistics.  Many of the volunteers were fathers themselves and they were out in force today.  Thank you for the countless hours everyone put into this weekend!

If you enjoyed this year’s festival, make sure you save the date for the annual 4th of July parade and Nostalgia Days in August.  It’s events like these that make Novato such a special place.  What did you enjoy the most about this year’s festival?

On another note, I will have to miss my first council meeting as Mayor this week.  I am traveling for work this week so I won’t be there on Tuesday, but I will be back next week.

Around Town
North Redwood Blvd Streetscape Workshop – The visioning workshops for the North Redwood Blvd Streetscape wrapped up this past Monday (June 9th).  Unfortunately, I was unable to make it do to other plans, but would be curious to hear your thoughts?

North, North Redwood Corridor Vision Workshop – The North, North Redwood Corridor workshops wrapped up this Saturday as well with small groups providing feedback on the various sites.  Ultimately, the options and feedback will be presented to the Planning Commission and then the Council in the next few months.

New Novato Tourism Website – If you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to check out the new site at www.visitnovato.com.
