Mayor's Weekly (Feb 10 - Feb 16)

Novato's Mayor Eric Lucan shares city news, events and meetings on the horizon, and on occasion a few spontaneous thoughts.

On my Mind
Happy President’s Day Weekend everyone!  I am taking a few days off on this extended weekend so my blog will be a little shorter than normal, but I did want to provide some quick updates below as to what’s been going on around town and what to look forward to in the week ahead.

Around Town
State of the City Address – there was a great turnout this past Tuesday (Feb 11) for the Annual State of the City Address.  City Manager Michael Frank shared a great outlook for 2014 and the message was well received by the audience.  We have certainly come a long way over the past several years and 2014 should be a strong year for the City of Novato.

Carriage Rides in Downtown – This past Friday on Valentine’s Day, the Downtown Novato Business Association sponsored free horse drawn carriage rides through downtown.  Did anyone get a chance to ride in the carriage?  Feel free to share below.

MCAL Play-In Game: San Marin defeats Novato – For the first time in over 20 years, the Novato High and San Marin boy’s basketball teams met on Saturday night for an MCAL play-in game.  The teams split their head to head match-ups in the regular season, but San Marin had the edge on Saturday night.  Congrats Mustangs! As a side note, I am a Novato High grad, but my wife is a San Marin grad which makes for an interesting household rivalry.
