A Place in Novato that’s Out of this World

If you haven’t been to the Space Station Museum in Novato, then it is time to make a voyage.  And for those who have been there before, it is time to make a return trip to see the new “Moon Bound” exhibit that opened recently. 

Located in the Pacheco Plaza shopping center, the Space Station Museum is as much fun for kids as it is for adults.  While most museums and exhibits have a strict “no touch” policy, the Space Station Museum encourages just the opposite—no wonder it is instantly popular amongst kids.

Several months ago I was at Boca Pizzeria with a group of family and friends when our attention was drawn to a life size astronaut statue known as “Big John” that had been rolled outside the museum to catch the attention of those passing by.  Following lunch, we all migrated over to the museum to see what it was all about.  Our 5 minute peek inside quickly turned into almost an hour of discovery and exploration.  In the midst of all the space artifacts, it didn’t take long for my inner child to come alive. I grew up watching shuttle launches in school and even had chance to visit the Kennedy Space Center as a kid, so excuse the pun, but the Space Station Museum is a definite “blast from the past”!
