Thousands of Ballots Remain Uncounted in Marin's District 5 Race

Can Shroyer still pull ahead in this race to represent Novato? Time will tell.

The Marin County registrar's office continues to count ballots cast in Tuesday's election-- ballots that may or may not make a difference in the outcome of Novato's supervisor race.

According to the registrar's office, some 2,220 ballots had yet to be counted in Marin's District 5 as of Wednesday afternoon.

Incumbent Judy Arnold held a 140 vote lead over challenger Toni Shroyer as of Wednesday, according to online results posted by the registrar's office.

In total 18,000 more ballots-- mostly mail-in votes that were handed in Election Day-- need to be counted in Marin County before the election results can be finalized, according to registrar's officials.

Elections officials will update results each coming Friday until all the votes have been tallied, Patch is told.
