Why? 'Because We Saw It on the Internet, Officer'

The following information from July 30-Aug. 1 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner:

8:02 p.m., July 31 — Two males wearing white hoods on their heads and holes cut out at the eyes were reportly running around in the area of Center and Paladini roads. Officers contacted the juveniles who said they were doing it because they “saw it on the Internet.”

9:08 a.m. — A resident of Alameda del Prado/Jack Black Circle reported that someone was using a jackhammer. Builders were advised of the local noise abatement ordinance and said they would wail until 10 a.m.

9:32 a.m. — A man on Nogales Court believes a woman he has been seeing took $160 from his wallet and is concerned she will show up at his house and create more problems. The man was given advice to call police if that occurs.

11:16 a.m. — Someone at a garage sale in Digital Drive reported that four people stole a cash box with $600 inside. They were last seen heading toward Bel Marin Keys Boulevard in an older SUV.

11:23 a.m. — A crying woman on Lynwood Drive called police to come to her address and then disconnected the phone. Officers found the woman and a friend in an argument because woman did not want her husband to play golf that day. The friend was gone on officer’s arrival.

12:38 p.m. — Someone on Lark Court reported one tenant threatening to give another a fat lip. Advice was given.

2:02 p.m. — A resident of Fallen Leaf Way reported that someone came into her house while she was gone through an unlocked front door and stole $3,560 in cash. A burglary case was taken.

2:13 p.m. — An employee of 7-Eleven reported that she was being yelled at by a woman who had been told not to loiter in the parking lot. Officers advised the woman not to hang around.

3:31 p.m. — A resident of Santa Maria Drive reported that someone dumped a large smelly bag in front of a house and a suspected dead animal might be inside. The bag was determined to contain household garbage plus remains of a crab.

4:13 p.m. — A woman with a small dog sitting next to a shopping cart in the 1500 block of South Novato Boulevard was yelling for an hour and believed to be either mentally unstable or intoxicated. Officers found that she was upset about prior thefts and used obscene language toward the officers.

5:37 p.m. — Officers assisted with a verbal disturbance between two male roommates at an apartment in the 5400 block of Nave Drive.

6:01 p.m. — A blue Toyota with a carload of people on Partridge Drive was asked by officers to move along. The reporting party believed they were dealing drugs.

6:01 p.m. — A woman in the 5400 block of Nave Drive reported that her ex-boyfriend and current roommate assaulted her in August 2010.

8:15 p.m. — A neighbor reported hearing “No Daddy, don’t hit me” from a house on Carnoustie Heights Drive. Officers found a boy having emotional issues and advice was given.

9:14 p.m. — A hit-and-run was reported on Newport Landing Drive. A red Mercedes reportedly ran into the back of the reporting party’s parked car. The owner of the Mercedes was located prior to police arrival and information was exchanged.

10:44 p.m. — A woman said 10 or more people were involved in a fight in the 800 block of Diablo Avenue. The woman said she was struck by a friend but did not want to press charges.

July 31

1:09 a.m. — A group of “noisy and rowdy” people were asked to move along from a park in the 1200 block of Highland Drive.

8:15 p.m. — A woman believed to be homeless was reportedly bathing in a men’s bathroom in for 15 minutes at a business in the 7300 block of Redwood Boulevard. She was asked to move along.

12:15 p.m. — A man reported that his wife had taken their 11-year-old son to Mexico and refused to return. The man was angry with his wife and accused her of adultery. Advice was given on a child custody order, restraining order and eviction.

1:53 p.m. — A woman called to say her 77-year-old mother was being verbally and sexually harassed by a male neighbor at an unknown address. The mother had tried to move away from the man and fell and broke her arm. Advice was given.

2:44 p.m. — A man reported that a panhandler standing at the corner of Diablo Avenue and Redwood Boulevard spat on his car. The subject was contacted and asked to move along.

11:07 p.m. — A man from a repossession agency attempted to repossess a vehicle on Saddlebrook Court and reported the home’s door open and money scattered around. The resident was contacted and advice was given on a civil matter.

Aug. 1

1:35 a.m. — A man on Paladini Road reported hearing an explosion and recommended to police to check the area of Pioneer Park for suspicious activity. Nothing was found.

3:18 a.m. — A noninjury solo vehicle crash was reported at the corner of Mill Road and Santa Maria Drive. A car struck a curb and hit some shrubs. The vehicle was towed at the owner’s request.

11:15 a.m. — Three women in a silver Mercedes convertible were seen driving in the area of Arthur and Washington streets picking up donations that had been left by the curb in front of several houses. The car was gone on officer’s arrival.

11:36 a.m. — Wiring and sprinkler valves were vandalized at a home on Miwok Drive. The owner said he owes his gardener some money and he suspects the gardener did it.

12:07 p.m. — A man in the 1200 block of Cambridge Street reported that his 80-year-old mother with severe dementia and Alzheimer’s was missing from her home. Police located the woman and the man provided police with a photo of his mother for future reference.

12:27 p.m. — A woman on Saddlebrook Court reported that someone entered her unlocked vehicle overnight and stole $16,000 in cash.

12:34 p.m. — A tan Toyota Camry crashed into the curb in the 1500 block of South Novato Boulevard. No injuries were reported.

12:57 p.m. — Someone reported an elderly man throwing up against the side of a building in the 1000 block of Grant Avenue and then getting into a light blue Saturn. Police were unable to locate.

 1:34 p.m. — A noninjury accident was reported at the corner of Diablo Avenue and Novato Boulevard. A silver Mazda MPV collided with a Honda Pilot.

2:08 p.m. — A woman reported her wallet stolen from her workplace and said her debit card was declined at the Old Navy store at Vintage Oaks shopping center. The card had been successfully used at Target a few minutes earlier for $119. For a story on this incident, click .

2:37 p.m. — A nurse at a clinic reported that she is worried a female patient might hurt her three kids of unknown ages. The case was reported to child protective services. Offices visited the woman’s house and found it to be clean and order and the children not neglected. Advice was given for child care assistance and financial advice.

3:46 p.m. — A woman reported being harassed by a man in a silver Mercedes convertible following a road rage incident in the 900 block of Diablo Avenue.

3:46 p.m. — A caller reported suspicious circumstances when she saw a Hispanic man in his 30s with a duffle bag talking to a white girl of about 8 years old near Redwood Boulevard and Vallejo Avenue. Officers were unable to locate.

4:05 p.m. — A man at a treatment facility in the 1400 block of Cambridge Street reported that another man bit him on the arm, drawing a small amount of blood. Advice given to property management.

5:35 p.m. — Someone reported people riding dirt bikes on private property on Rose Court and being noisy.

4:27 p.m. — A man in a silver Ford pickup and a woman in a blue Honda Accord got into a road rage argument at the corner of Fifth and Grant avenues. The man alleges the woman slapped him. Both subjects were cited for battery.

7:10 p.m. — Two neighbors got in a dispute on Las Palmas Avenue and one person flipped over a table, injuring the other. Case taken for battery.

7:26 p.m. — An aluminum boat was reported stolen overnight from a residence on Alice Street.

8:29 p.m. — Two gallon jugs with brown liquid inside were found outside a business in the 1200 block of Grant Avenue that had been vandalized with graffiti. It’s believed the liquid is motor oil.

9 p.m. — A male subject on Vincent Lane said he was threatened by a person driving a black BMW sedan. Advice was given to the man an issues he was having with his 18-year-old son and his friends.

9:46 p.m. — Someone reported seeing a white Ford pickup in the KFC parking lot on Redwood Boulevard with a man trying to stop a woman from getting out. Woman told officers she did not need police assistance.

11:19 p.m. — Four girls and a boy were seen breaking a bottle of alcohol in the street and driving away in the area of Pizarro Avenue and Serra Court. Subjects gone on officer arrival.
