Novato Girl Stalked on Her Way to School

Police are asking for the public's help finding a man who they say repeatedly tried to make unwanted contact with the 17-year-old female student.

Police in Novato are on the lookout for a man who they say repeatedly attempted to make unwanted contact with a female juvenile on her way to school this morning.

The 17-year-old student told police she was walking to school at about 8:30 near First Street and Mirabella Avenue when a motorist pulled up beside her and started talking to her.

The student ignored the man and kept walking, but a few minutes later he walked up to her and pulled on her shirt after she again declined to respond to his attempts to draw her into a conversation.

The man then followed the girl in his car towards the area of Center Road and Diablo Avenue.

The girl reported the incident to administrators when she got to Hill Education Center.

The male subject is described as an approximately 5-foot-4 145-pound Hispanic adult who was driving a green compact sedan.

Anyone with information about this case or knowledge of a person matching this description whom they believe might be involved in this incident is asked to call the Novato Police Department at 415-897-4361.
