Mount Burdell Voted No. 1 'Destination' Spot in Novato
Our favorite natural landmark gets the nod in our weekly Readers Choice survey.
The best "destination" place in Novato worth showing off to out-of-town visitors? It's Mount Burdell, according to Novato Patch's weekly Readers Choice contest.
The 1,558-foot mountain isn't quite as high as Big Rock Ridge on the southern edge of the city, but few could argue it's a more majestic peak and the city's No. 1 natural landmark. The Mount Burdell Open Space Preserve is just less than 1,600 acres of stellar wildand and hiking trails and managed by the Marin County Open Space District.
Mount Burdell tied in the votes with , but there were more mentions of the mountain in the story comments, which served as a tiebreaker. To learn more about Mount Burdell, bookmark the county's page on it.

Patch's Readers Choice contest winners are determined by results of the weekly poll and reviews left on a business' Patch listing. Why do the ratings matter more when determining the winner? The poll goes away after a few days, but the positive reviews and ratings stay forever with your favorite business and really help them out.
Thanks to all who voted and added comments not only to the Readers Choice story but to the listings for each location. Watch for our next contest starting on Monday.
