Man Dies After Medical Trauma at Hamilton Pool

A man in his 70s died at Novato Community Hospital after having a medical incident at the Hamilton Pool Wednesday afternoon, law enforcement officials said.
Novato Fire Capt. Adam Brolan said paramedics were called to the pool at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday on a report that a man was down. The man was sitting at the edge of the pool and was not in it at the time of his medical trauma, Brolan said.
When paramedics arrived, the victim had no pulse and was not breathing, he said. Hamilton Pool lifeguards were administering CPR to the man and were using a defibrillator, Brolan said.
"They did a fantastic job," Brolan said.
Novato Fire paramedics took over the incident and transported the man to Novato Community 11 minutes after they arrived, Brolan said.
Novato Police Lt. Jennifer Dunlap confirmed that the victim died and that the Marin County Coroner's Office was handling the case. An exact cause of death has not yet been determined.
