Iishwara Ryaru Accepts Position with WestEd

His resignation as Director of Accountability for Novato Unified School District is scheduled for February 17.

Novato Unified's Director of Educational Assessment, Accountability and Specialized Programs is resigning from the district to take a position with national education-related agency, as first reported in a Novato Patch blog.

Iishwara Ryaru, known in the district as 'Iish', has accepted a position with WestEd, a research, development, and service agency that works with school districts across the country, according to Leslie Benjamin, a spokesperson for the district.

According to Ryaru, his new title will be Senior Program Associate and he will be traveling to school districts throughout California to provide support, so his office location will vary.

He will be helping to develop needs assessments and action plans to support increased rates of student achievement and will be leading teams to help with program implementation efforts, Benjamin said.

“It’s truly been a pleasure working with Iish these past few months.  His analytical skills and ability to work with people have led to his success here at NUSD and will continue to be an integral part to his success at WestEd.  He will be greatly missed at NUSD,” said Dr. Shalee Cunningham, NUSD Superintendent in an e-mail.
