Heat, Innovation Mark First Day of Marin County Fair

Searing temperatures marked the first day of the Marin County Fair, but didn’t stop thousands from soaking up performances, technology exhibits and plenty of hands-on workshops that encouraged kids to tinker.

Inside the Marinovators Hall, attendees could watch a 3-D printer in action, practice using a new surgical tool and build the world’s largest pop-up book.

Nearby, children could learn about conductivity using Play Doh, create their own world with Sim City and MINECRAFT and check out The Viper, a Battle Star Gallactica themed motion flight simulator built by Marin teens.
