Burglary Suspects Nabbed with the Goods

Resident on Elm Drive near downtown Novato wakes up to find two men stealing stuff and heading out the door.

Two men were booked at Marin County Jail early Sunday after a residential burglary on Elm Drive in downtown Novato, said.

A homeowner in the 1100 block of Elm told police he woke up and saw two men with ski masks grabbing things from inside his home, according to Novato police Sgt. Eric Riddell. The suspects swiped cell phones, a laptop computer, clothes, wallets, credit cards and cash before fleeing. The homeowner called police at 4:47 a.m.

Overnight security guards at the Novato Festival on Grant Avenue were questioned by police, who then found that an employee at the Novato Fair Safeway store had seen two men matching the description enter the store briefly. Police quickly located and contacted the men and found they were in possession of several items from the home.
