The Mustang baseball team lost their first MCAL games last week; a 2-0 loss to Marin Catholic and 6-2 to Tamalpais.  On Tuesday against MC, both starting pitchers went the distance in a great pitcher’s duel.  Chrit Rudkin gave up 4 hits while striking out 7 in the loss.  Then on Friday, Tam jumped on San Marin early as the Mustangs struggled to come back.  Irv Arellano had a nice day at the plate though hitting a home run and a double.  The Mustangs look to bounce back this week at San Rafael and at home against Justin Siena.

JV & Frosh Baseball

No update was provided, but both teams will travel up to Justin Siena for games this Friday.

Softball

The Mustang softball team had 3 games last week finishing 2-1 in those games.

On Monday, the girls pulled out a thrilling 4-3 win in extra innings against Drake.  Paige McIntosh hit her second homerun of the year, taking a pitch deep to center.  Coach Liz Hartmann remarked, “I was extremely proud of how well the girls battled and pulled out the close win.”

On Wednesday, the girls traveled to Napa to take on the Indians in a non-league game.  The girls just couldn’t get anyone on base consistently in losing 4-0.

Finally on Thursday, the girls had a nice bounce back game beating Redwood 15-2.  All the girls were able to get in the game and contribute.  The girls host Novato and Analy this week, before traveling to Marin Catholic on Thursday.

Lacrosse

The boys had two tough losses to Terra Linda and San Rafael.   They did get solid efforts vs TL by Richard Mahaffey with 7 saves and Michael Curtis who had 6.  Against San Rafael, Andy Schimmel, Chris Martinez and Connor Flechsig had goals.  No report from the girls was provided.  Both teams are back in action this week at home Thursday against Justin Siena.

Swimming

The Mustangs took on Novato this past week and had 38 best times.   Margot Devincenzi (200 Free, 500 Free) and Daniel Hardman (50 Free, 100 Back) were double winners on the day.  Celeste Malatesta finished the 200 IM with NCS Consideration Time.

Tennis

Freshmen Andrew Ding picked up his first win in MCAL play as San Marin lost a close 5-4 battle with Drake High. After several very close matches that ended in defeat, Andrew was able to put them aside as he played a terrific match to secure the victory. Other winners this week were #1 player Josh Bernstein, #2 Jackson Grover and #3 Nick Grech.  Josh, Jackson and Nick continue to set the standard for the Mustangs as all have winning records so far this season.
