On Thursday, the boys got off to a rocky start falling behind 18-5 after 1.  After closing the lead to 5 at half 26-21, the boys held Redwood to 14 points in the second half winning 50-40.  Shay Stubblefield and Manny Wilkins led the Mustangs with 14 and 11 points apiece.

Finally on Saturday, the boys took on undefeated Drake and came up short as the previous 11 teams have this season losing 55-43.  Shay Stubblefield’s 13 points paced the Mustangs, but a rough 3rd quarter stretch propelled Drake to pull away for the win.

The boys take on Novato and San Rafael this week.  With 1 win in their final 2 games, they will host a MCAL Playoff game on Tuesday, February 12 as either the 3 or 4 seed.

JV Boys-  The boys competed hard but ultimately fell to Branson, Redwood and Drake last week, the top 3 teams in the JV Boys standings.  Solid efforts were had by Jeff Walchli, Yazen Hamami, Shane O’Riordan, Kenny Cottrell, and Dylan Wheaton.   The boys close out the season vs Novato and San Rafael.

Frosh Boys-  The frosh boys pulled into a tie with Drake for 1st place in the MCAL standings with a huge 3-0 week.  After a win over Branson on Tuesday, they took on the 2 teams they lost to in the first round of games Redwood and Drake.  Against Redwood, Dante Restivo had a huge game on both sides of the ball with 23 points and numerous steals.  Collin Moore had a big game inside with 15 points and 9 rebounds, as the Mustangs won 48-42.

Saturday brought about the showdown between the top 2 teams in MCAL as Drake played at San Marin.  The Mustangs came out with a huge 3rd quarter taking a 12 point lead at 38-26, but the Pirates answered with a big surge to start the 4th.  At 42-40 with just under 3 minutes left, the Mustang defense tightened up and held the Pirates without a basket until just under a minute to go.  Nick Corbani sank huge free throws and the defense of Josh Garcia, Collin Moore, Tommy Sanz and Dante Restivo sealed the deal as the Mustangs won 48-43.

With wins in their final 2 games this week, the Freshman Boys will win the first pennant in boys basketball at the frosh level in school history.   They play at Novato and San Rafael this week.

Varsity Girls-  The girls went 2-1 last week with wins over Branson and Drake, and a loss to Redwood.

On Tuesday, the girls took down Branson 45-32.  Jenna Sudlow’s 15 points and Hayley Nicolini’s 12 paced the Mustangs.  Up just 2 points going into the 4th quarter, the Mustangs outscored Branson 16-5 to pull away for the win.

On Thursday, the girls lost a tough one at Redwood 39-34.  Kaleah Williams had 21 points for the Mustangs, but the ball just didn’t find its way into the hoop enough as the Mustangs fell to the Giants.

Finally on Saturday, the girls blewout Drake 56-36.  Maya Stevens led the Mustangs with 18 points and 20 rebounds.  Kaleah Williams chipped in 15 more as the Mustangs won every quarter and pulled away for a convincing 20 point win.

The girls tied for 4th right now, take on 3rd place Novato at San Marin on Tuesday.  Then they close out the season on Thursday vs. San Rafael.  They have clinched playoffs already, but their seed remains to be determined, as it could be anywhere between 3-5.
