I've been noticing lately that Congress is in a fatal bind, with neither side willing to compromise with the other side, even when it's a good idea.(Romney's Massachusetts health plan that Obama copied and now the Republicans hate is a great example). We're never going to get along. I've come across an idea that, albiet tongue in cheek, would solve our deadlock in Congress. This is making the rounds.
Split up the country into red and blue states.
We blue states will form a new country we'll take the other blue states with us. You red states can run things your way, and we blue states won't have to go through all your red tape every time we have a good idea or plan.
In case you aren't aware, the blue states include California, New York, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and the rest of the Northeast.
We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation and especially to the people of the new country of Blue States of America
To sum up briefly:
You get Texas, Oklahoma and all the slave states.
We get stem cell research and the best beaches.
We get Andrew Cuomo and Elizabeth Warren. You get Bobby Jindal and Todd Akin.
We get the Statue of Liberty. You get Gator Land.
We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom.
We get Harvard. You get Ole' Miss.
We get 85 percent of America's venture capital and entrepreneurs.
You get Alabama.
We get two-thirds of the tax revenue. You get to make the red states pay their fair share.
Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than the Christian Coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of single moms.
Please be aware that we are pro-choice and anti-war, and we're going to want all our citizens back from Afghanistan at once. If you need people to fight, ask your evangelicals. They have kids they're apparently willing to send to their deaths for no purpose and they don't care if you don't show pictures of their children's caskets coming home.
We wish you success in Afghanistan, and possibly Iran as well, but we're not willing to spend our resources in these sorts of pursuits.
With the Blue States in hand we will have firm control of 80 percent of the country's fresh water, more than 90 percent of the pineapple and lettuce, 92 percent of the nation's fresh fruit, 95 percent of America's quality wines (you can serve French wines at state dinners), 90 percent of all cheese, 90 percent of the high tech industry, most of the U.S.' low-sulfur coal, all living redwoods, sequoias and condors, all the Ivy and Seven Sister schools plus Stanford, Cal Tech and MIT.
With the Red States you will have to cope with 88 percent of all obese Americans and their projected health care costs, 92 percent of all U.S. mosquitoes, nearly 100 percent of the tornadoes, 90 percent of the hurricanes, 99 percent of all Southern Baptists, virtually 100 percent of all televangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Jones University, Clemson and the University of Georgia.
We also get Hollywood and Yosemite.
Think about it: 38 percent of those in the Red states believe Jonah was actually swallowed by a whale, 62 percent believe life is sacred unless we're discussing the death penalty or gun laws, 44 percent say that evolution is only a theory, 53 percent that Saddam was involved in the 9/11 terrorist attacks and 61 percent of you crazy bozos believe you are people with higher morals then we lefties.
We're taking the good weed, too. You can have that crap they grow in Mexico.
Well done, gave me a good chuckle, thanks.
As for two California's, instead of North/South, it should be East/West.
lt puts a lot of things in (humourous)perspective...... and gives ... pause...to think up ways too help those...er...."challenged"... areas/states. Like bedder edicashun or something...
I changed few words to get out a word that would not fly-b#sdard. I also wanted to say that with the inclusion of Texas as a blue state, we probably would have 80% of the taxes paid, but couldn't confirm the numbers, so I posted it basically as I got it. Along with the usuall hate mail I get whenever I post, came a note from Brent, who said he'd found it posted somewhere else. He suggested that the words " this is making the rounds" be inserted to tell everyone I wasn't the original author. The point is this- the red states are supported by the blue states, with the exception of Texas, and it's getting annoying to have to know that a guy who thinks wrestling is real can have the same power to decide upon who gets to be the most powerful person on earth as a Harvard trained economist.
I'm still amazed at how that 1% got that many toothless bozos to vote for them using religion, race, and immigration as their ammo.

Number two: "Tongue in cheek", historically means it's a joke. If you want to see spoiled children, go to Wyndover, but don't go to a comedy club. You won't get it.
