Lobsters and World Cup

Soroptimist members of Novato are selling live Maine lobsters for fund raising, and they are "opening their doors" to prospective members with a luncheon and speakers featuring America's World Cup.

Soroptimist International of Novato is again very busy. Two exciting events in October are a big part of what the organization does: selling live lobsters as a fundraising activity, and promoting membership in our organization with a luncheon this year featuring leading organizers of America’s Cup World Series.

LOBSTERS:  Fresh lobsters are flown in from Maine specially for the club members to distribute.  The lobsters sell for $20 each, and you can pick them up on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 6, in front of the historic Novato Theatre on Grant Avenue between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.  The lobsters need to be ordered in advance (by Sept. 30), however, as very few extras are ordered for sale that day.  You can order the lobsters pre-cooked if you like, but it is fun to arrange your own party and cook the lobsters yourself.  Please use our website for details, order form, and contact information.

WORLD CUP:  Each year our club “opens our doors” to the community for people to join us for a luncheon at Ricky’s Restaurant.  Come check us out while also listening to a fun speaker and having a nice meal.  This year we have Rosie Spaulding and Jill Savery, two top women of the America’s Cup World Series.  Spaulding is the Event Manager, and Savery is the Head of Sustainability.  Both women will offer enlightening insight to the huge sailing competition which frequents the headlines in the Bay area.  Luncheon is $20 and reservations can be made by contacting Membership Chair Sylvia Barry at Sylvia@SylviaBarryRE.com or call Sylvia at (415) 717-0293.
