Which Restaurant Makes the Best Hot Breakfast?

For this week's Readers' Choice contest, we ask for your favorite Novato spot for a sit-down breakfast (not including fast food spots).

When you're still wiping the sleep out of your eyes, isn't it nice to have someone else who's fully awake serving you a hot breakfast? For some it's a luxury. For others, it's a necessity at least once a week.

Novato has a bunch of restaurants of the non-fast-food variety that have extensive breakfast menus and tables where you can crash land and have someone call you "Honey" or "Hon" as your coffee gets refilled.

We've put together a list of non-corporate, locally owned places around our city. Now let's check your loyalty. Which place is the best in Novato, top to bottom? Let us know who stands out.

Note: We'll focus on our bakeries another week. This contest is for places that have long menus full of omelettes, scrambles, bacon, sausage and all that kind of good stuff.

Voting (rules attached at right) comes in two forms: You can vote in the poll below, but the poll is not scientific and is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. You can also weigh in by rating the entry on the restaurant's page in Novato Patch Places directory (links below). A place with five stars will get more points in our contest than one with three. Comments from readers on this story and on the listing are encouraged but are not part of the criteria we tally the votes at the end of the week.

If you're the owner or manager of one of these businesses, click on your place and claim the free listing to enhance it by adding more details.

So here are the entries. If we've left one off of the list, let us know in the comments or e-mail the editor at brent.ainsworth@patch.com and we'll try to add it right away.

Here's your chance to tell share your recommendation. Vote in our poll and then visit the restaurant's listing and give it a star rating.

Marvin's makes a great corned beef hash. It's been our family tradition that I take the boys here for breakfast on their first day of school (Mike gets to sleep in!)

In terms of the best breakfast value, I'd vote for Star Restaurant on Novato Blvd where we can still get a full breakfast for $4.99 (with restricted hours). If looking for The Best Hungry Man Breakfast, a hungry man would probably choose Marvin's.

Glad you have a favorite, Alex, but this was meant to be for the places that serve hot breakfasts every day. Someday we'll do a contest for brunches.
