Viking Auto Parts Sets Sail for Sweetser Avenue

New location nearly doubles the space.

Viking Foreign Auto Parts has been in business since 1977.  Now, 33 years later the company is picking up and moving from his current 1403 Grant Avenue location to the other side of Redwood Boulevard.  Owner Bryan Lee, who bought Viking in 1997, is also announcing a new service.

Lee is considered a prominent authority on vintage Volkswagens.  Although his business is noted for this specialty Lee says, “I can get parts for anything.”  Viking aims to be a one-stop shop for all foreign and domestic car parts.  The store has a reputation for providing knowledgeable assistance and helping customers with their installations and restoration projects.

Lee has already begun the moving process and hopes to have the new location open for business by April 1.  The good news for customers is that the new store is only 0.4 miles away from the old store.  Viking Auto Parts will also gain about twice the room over their current digs.

The Grant Avenue store was 1300 square feet.  The new store is about 2500 square feet and is in the spot formerly occupied by Comcast at 856 Sweetser Avenue.  “I plan to leave the front half of the store dedicated to auto parts, and I’m setting up the back half as a repair shop,” says Lee.   He sees adding the repair shop as just another level of service that he can bring to his customers.

When asked, “Why in Novato and not somewhere else?” Lee said, “This is my base.  It’s where I grew up.  It’s where I want to do business.  It’s where my customers are.”

That said, some of Viking’s best reviews on Yelp come from Petaluma and Santa Rosa, evidence that customers are more than willing to travel to Novato to do business with Lee.  Viking Foreign Auto Parts also provides for online shopping via their website
