Toast's Breakfasts Come Out No. 1 in Readers' Choice Contest

Hamilton Marketplace spot wins weeklong Patch contest for best hot breakfast restaurant in the city, as voted by our readers.

Some news hot off the griddle: is the No. 1 place for hot breakfast in Novato according to Novato Patch readers.

Toast, opened in 2009 as a sister location to the Toast in Mill Valley, attracted lots of attention for its modern interior feel when in March 2011 it received a national nomination for a James Beard Award for restaurant design.

What are some of the most popular dishes? Huevos rancheros, salmon hash, french toast and six varieties of eggs benedict.

In a comment placed on Toast's Novato Patch listing, reader Brooke wrote, "Absolutely love this menu .... Ambiance is beautiful but I can still bring the kids. Mike Garcia, the chef, is innovative and brings dishes together in a way that are just beyond YUMMY!!! So good I make my husband get take-out when we can't make it in. If you haven't checked it out yet, it is an absolute MUST!!!"

For this contest, we favored places that have long menus full of omelettes, scrambles, bacon, sausage and all that kind of good stuff. We'll do a survey of bakeries and brunch places a bit later.

The folks at Toast will receive a Patch certificate of achievement in the coming weeks.
