Shutterbug Camera Getting More Exposure

Replacement for closed Wolf Camera on Grant Avenue is off to a strong start.

Last June it was announced that Wolf Camera was closing its Novato store.  Ritz Camera & Image, the parent company, had filed for bankruptcy and decided that the Grant Avenue store was one of the 128 stores that it would close.

Opening just before the holidays, another camera company has reoccupied the space. Shutterbug Camera, all settled in at 1427 Grant Ave., has a successful history, having opened its first store 44 years ago in Santa Rosa.

Mike Paschke, president of Shutterbug Camera, said the company had a presence in Novato before but it didn’t work out in the long term.  More recently, a noticeable upsurge in Novato-area clientele visiting their Petaluma and Santa Rosa stores decidedly favored returning to Novato and taking the Grant Avenue location. This is the company’s third store.

When asked how Shutterbug compares to its competitors and predecessors, Paschke said, “We have a much larger inventory to select from. We also have been in business so long that we have a much better understanding of the products. We also provide unique services like printing on canvas wraps and metal.”

Paschke said many customers come for classes, workshops and seminars.  He was happy to report that the Grant Avenue store has already established a solid base of photo finishing customers.

Wonderful that Shutterbug has opened a Novato Store. Now I don't have to drive to Petaluma and Santa Rosa all the time. I've purchased 3 camera's through Shutterbug and taken a number of their photography classes and have been very very satisfied with this company.
