Readers' Choice: What is Marin's Best Live Music Venue?

Where do you like to go see our local musicians, singers and bands? Vote for your favorite here.

Who likes to rock out? Marin does. We have a rich and amazing history of producing world-renowned recording artists, musicians and singers here. But it's not just rock music — it's classical, ska, blues, jazz — pretty much everything that makes sound.

Marin has several standout venues to see live music, but we want to know which one is the best when it comes to a night out on the town to hear great tunes.

In our latest edition of Readers' Choice, we've given you the keys, letting you primarily formulate the list of nominees and then select the winner. We solicited nominations from June 18 to July 9.

Voting began on July 23 and continues until Aug. 17. Some Readers' Choice categories span across all of Marin and others dig deep into individual towns and cities. This one is a countywide contest. Visit our topic page for all the Readers' Choice information.

I'm sorry, but I can't vote on what is (in my opinion) the best live music venue. The main reason is that I have not been to any up in north Marin, and I didn't see Rancho Nicasio or the Elk's club on the list, places that have great music. Perhaps a better poll would be "what is your favorite live music venue in Marin, past and present" ? I think that my all time favorite live music venue in Marin was the amphitheater near rock springs on Mt. Tam .

Not including Rancho Nicasio is like not including Pele in a soccer poll.

I agree with Craig. Rancho Nicasio for music and for the setting..especially Sundays.

Excuse me but leaving out Rancho Nicasio is ridiculous.

We solicited nominations from June 18 to July 9 for the contest, but apparently all the Rancho Nicasio fans missed it! Sorry it was left out.
