'Point Reyes Blue' Wins Third Place in U.S. Championship Cheese Contest

The cheese won third place in the 'blue veined cheeses with exterior molding' category.

Hundreds of cheese makers across the country entered their coveted cheddars, Gorgonzolas and a string of other cheeses into the 2013 U.S. Championship Cheese Contest.

The Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company snagged third place for their “Point Reyes Bay Blue” in the category “Blue Veined Cheeses with Exterior Molding.” It received a 96.2 score out of 100.

Not surprisingly, Wisconsin won a bulk of the awards, but a few other Californian companies were bestowed with the cheesy prize. Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese was the only winner from Marin County.
