Locals want to see these businesses on Grant Avenue

Novato residents came forward with ideas when asked, "what businesses do you think are missing from Grant Avenue?"

A variety of businesses can be found in Novato's Old Town on Grant Avenue. Residents and workers having coffee on Grant Avenue were asked what businesses did they feel were missing from the street. Restaurants was the most popular response when asked what they wanted added onto Grant Avenue.

Noni Ritter, Novato resident – She says she would like “better, upscale restaurants like Insalata's and Comforts (found in San Anselmo). I would also like a nice butcher like a charcuterie.”

Paul Breakstone, Novato resident - He says he'd like, “more mid-range restaurants. It would be nice to have German and Italian restaurants, a nice dinner for $30-$40.” He would also like to have an old fashioned diner.

Birgit, a regular visitor from New Jersey – She misses “stores that aren't generic” and that have character. She is glad that the Flour Chylde and the toy store Five Little Monkeys are still in business. “So many have gone out of business, it's a pity. They gave a lot of personality to the street.”

Gina Flanagan, works in Novato - “Better restaurants with better hours.”
