Novato Resident Creates New iPad App

There’s Skype and there’s email. But what are to do if you want to play games with your grandchildren who live far way or read them a book before they go to sleep?

Faced with this very issue two years ago when her grandson Avery was born, Novato resident Linda Salesky created with a new app called ustyme. The iPad application allows users to play games such as checkers, "Paper, Rock, Scissors" and Go Fish or read books to recipients on the other end of the line, according to the Marin Independent Journal.

"As a grandmother, I have a vision and a passion for bringing families together," the Hamilton resident told the Marin Independent Journal. "I believe time spent with families is invaluable. Technology can pull you apart when everyone is engaged in separate devices, or it can bring you together."

Salesky and co-founder and president, Phil Marineau, officially launched their Sausalito-based company Wednesday and were helped by a $2 million round of funding from angel investors, according to the IJ.
