Novato Firm Carving Out Niche Among Superfoods Leaders

Navitas Naturals is expanding its product line while gaining attention from nutritionists.

Navitas Naturals, a certified organic, green business located in the Bel Marin Keys area of Novato, has gradually been staking its claim in the “superfoods” industry — and has just announced an extended product line.

The company sells a variety of superfoods, including acai powder, cacao in a variety of forms and wheatgrass powder. But it’s the firm’s innovative organic Coconut Water Powder, launched in 2012, that is yet again advancing the way people can enjoy the many benefits of coconut water.

Navitas Naturals is offering a new Chocolate Coconut Water Powder, and Goldenberry Coconut Water Powder, which both provide the hydration benefits of coconut water, but are also fortified with Navitas superfoods that “provide a big boost of nutrition and flavor,” according to company representatives.

“Thanks to the mineral-rich coconut water used in this instant drink powder, each serving of the new powders contains five electrolytes known to support rapid hydration: sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium and phosphorus. Goldenberry Coconut Water Powder, and Chocolate Coconut Water Powder, raise coconut water nutrition to a whole new level,” states a company press release. “That’s because camu camu, a superfruit from the Amazon, has been added to boost the vitamin C of both products. Thanks to camu camu, each serving meets the daily recommended intake of vitamin C.”

Fortified naturally with raw camu camu, cacao and goldenberry powder, these new organic superfood blends are a new functional food version of coconut water. The raw cacao provides more than just a rich chocolate flavor – it’s one of the most abundant natural food sources of immunity-boosting antioxidants. Cacao also contains key minerals including magnesium and iron. The freeze-dried goldenberry powder featured in the other blend is a plentiful source of vitamins A and C, beta-carotene, protein, fiber and phytonutrients. In addition to camu camu being the richest food source of vitamin C, the antioxidant-rich berry from the Amazon is also a plentiful source of potassium, calcium, beta carotene, amino acids and phytochemicals. Each 35-calorie serving contains more potassium than a banana.
