Hilltop 1892 Voted No. 1 for Restaurant Dessert Menu

In this week's Readers' Choice contest, Hilltop 1892 earned the top spot.

With entries such as warm cherry bread pudding, apple huckleberry crisp and Banana Betty, maybe it's no surprise that captured the blue ribbon this week in Novato Patch's Readers' Choice contest for best desserts among the top restaurants in town.

Hilltop 1892, named for the restaurant's location above Lamont Avenue and year the structure was built, also serves its 1892 S'More, chocolate mousse, lemon meringue pie and gelato. See the attached menu.

Hilltop Owner Erick Hendricks passes the credit to pastry chef Elizabeth Fisher, who works under the guidance of executive chef Nicolas Abrams. They are planning a couple of new items on the menu soon including the rotation of some traditional cakes. Watch for peach crisp this summer, Hendricks said.

A reader named Ella said it was a no-brainer. "Four words: Warm Cherry Bread Pudding," she wrote to Novato Patch. "This one goes to Hilltop, no question."

was also a big favorite among Novato Patch readers. All the desserts there have an Argentinian touch to them.

Patch's Readers' Choice contest winners are determined by results of the weekly poll and reviews left on a business' Patch listing. Why do the ratings on the business listings matter more when determining the winner? Because the poll goes away after a few days, but the positive reviews and ratings stay forever with your favorite business and really help them out.

Thanks to all who voted and added comments not only to the Readers Choice story but to the listings for each location. Watch for our next Readers' Choice contest.
